BEER CUSTOMS

UNIQUE GLASS FORMS FOR THE BEST WAY TO PRESERVE THE AROMA

Beer is the most-loved alcoholic beverage in Europe. Alongside classic beers such as pils and wheat beer, craft beer creations and special brews are all the rage. All beer types have one thing in common: they taste best drank from a glass. Or even more importantly: out of the right-shaped glass. For the creation of TAVERNA, LEONARDO worked with graduate master brewer and beer sommelier Friedrich Carl Richard Matthies to produce a series of beer glasses that perfectly preserve a beer’s taste and aromas.

Beer glass

Bierbecher

The beer nonic glass is a huge favourite within the craft beer scene. The shape of the glass is ideal for a variety of beers—from American Indian pale ale to a British stout.

Wheat beer glass

Weizenbierglas

The yeast of a wheat beer settles at the bottom of a traditional wheat beer glass that has a curved silhouette design. This ensures that the yeast is not consumed while drinking. The taste of more malty wheat beer is more intense in the throat. The long and slim shape of the glass ensures quicker beer flow.

Beer tulip

Biertulpe

The tulip beer glass is the most well-known and most widespread of all beer glasses in Europe. It is the ideal glass to enjoy elegant and full-bodied beers, and its bulbous shape allows the beer’s aromas to unfold perfectly.

Beer mug

Seidel

The mug is a classic jar shape with a handle that is ideal for toasting. The thick glass keeps beer at the right temperature for longer. The beer mug won fame as a classic beer mug (or stein as it’s also known) in the 1-litre version.

Beer glass

Bierglas

The beer glass has a slight conical shape that widens towards the top of the glass. This retains a beer’s head for longer. The glass is perfect for beers that are easy to drink, such as lagers or pils beers, which, by the way are also a kind of lager.
